Deer & salt tolerant Landscape design, Texas.

Updated: Jun 7, 2018

The client needed more of a planting redesign as deer & salt content in the soil had damaged most of the planting previously done in his residential property in College Station, Texas.

There is an existing wooded area in the front yard which has been retained and the earth level has been replaced by a mulch bed with a curvilinear outline. This has been done to attract the eye toward the stark curved line which separates the grass from mulch.

There is also a life size dinosaur skull sculpture present on the site. This area has been designed to create an impact as though it were a window to the Jurassic era, soft Mexican feather grass surrounds the sculpture with a few Sago palms which have been known to be the only plant species which have remained the same since the Jurassic era.

The back yard consists of a shapely court with planting punctuations that leads us to two sitting areas, one has a meditative quality to it, while the other is a relaxing zone comprising of large recliners and a fire pit.

The client needed some sort of privacy in the backyard, which has been achieved by placing curvilinear Cor-ten steel screens, giving a filtered view of the outside while maintaining privacy inside.
